Just A Moment
Right now I lie in my bed, luxuriating in the events of the day. This morning one of my cousins graduated with a bachelors’. I spent the evening celebrating her achievement with my family. I am immensely proud of her! Her perseverance and dedication is commendable. After my daughter took pictures with her I reminded my child that her turn will come in twelve years. That is what we do: set standards and achieve them. At the tender age of twenty-two my cousin has joined the list of sheroes, one who shines as an example to all of us. The image of my aunt and uncle flanking her in her cap and gown was so moving! I tried not to cry, but when my aunt took the floor and broke down in tears as she congratulated her baby I just lost it! Today represented such a victory! For my aunt was the teen mother of my earlier post. Thirty years later that girl has a child with a bachelors! All of the work of my aunt and uncle has paid off. So in this day and at this moment I stop to salute them.
